- Wrong Type
- Don't use "Adventure" because it sounds adventurous - use "Camping" or "Hike" or what it actually is
- Don't use "Conservation" for a conservation service project - use "Serv Project" and the "Conservation Related" Credit Toward label.
- If it's something people can attend, don't use "Special Note"
- If the structure the scouts sleep in has three or more walls, use "Cabin Camping" instead of "Camping"
- Wrong Level
- Only use "Everyone Including Parents" if parents are expected to stay for the event (e.g., a Court of Honor).
- Generic Title
- Make a descriptive title: Use "Shenandoah Rafting Campout" instead of "Campout"
- Put "Weekly Troop 162 Meeting" instead of "Meeting"
These items show up on iCalendar or Google Calendar and "Meeting" isn't helpful
- No Location
- No Time
- Didn't update Troopmaster when plans change
- Missing "Credit Toward" Labels:
- 2nd/1st Class, Camping, Pitch Tent, Outdoor is normal for a campout
- Hiking, Backpacking, Adventure, Aquatics, Riding, Cycling, Horseback, Motorboat, Skating, and Leave No Trace don't have any effect on Troopmaster, so include or exclude them if it helps communicate what will happen at the event
- Not Taking Attendance - Scribe, Lead Scout/Lead ASM, someone in charge should take attendance and make sure to sync the app
- Not creating custom filter - all campouts or events that need registration should have a custom filter created
- Registration ending too late - end registration for a campout at least two weeks ahead of time.
- Setting a Max Number - instead, communicate a sign-up limit if there is one, and the extra sign-ups are a wait list.
- Not clearly asking how many total people ("seat belts") can fit in a car driving to or from.
